The Tommasi company was founded in 1902. Initially, it functioned as a small, wine farm of grandfather Giacomo, but over the years it has developed into the largest family estate in Valpolicella Classico, run by the fourth generation of the family. Currently, it covers 195 hectares of vineyards, including 105 hectares in Valpolicella Classico. Tommasi is located in Pedemonte, in the north-west of Verona, in the heart of the historical region of the "Classico" region, where the highest quality wines are produced.
Amarone della Valpolicella is made from native grape varieties for the Valpolicella area, mainly from Corvina and Corvinone and other grapes such as Rondinella and Oseleta. These strains are particularly well suited to the appassimento process. During drying, the Corvina fruits undergo gene activation as if they had a second life in them that allows them to develop cherry and violet aromas in the wine, as well as a larger structure and body.
The wine is complex, smooth and saturated, has a deep, ruby color with shades of pomegranate. You can easily define them as full of elegance. There are many notes of cherries, plums, espresso, cigars and dark chocolate in it. Tommasi Amarone is a wine that can proudly serve on special occasions, especially suits red meats, venison and mature cheeses.
