Location
La Pasada vineyard, founded in 1989, is located above the village of Quel, at an altitude of 790 m above sea level, surrounded by pine forests and old holly oaks, located at the foot of the Sierra Yerga and Sierra de la Hez mountains. Their steep slopes contribute to the ideal flow of air through the vineyards, providing a healthy climate for vine development. During the summer growing months there may be huge temperature fluctuations (32˚C during the day to 10˚C at night), which allows us to achieve velvety tannins and balanced ripening of grapes. Poor, sandy soils with lots of old stones and iron-rich clay help to retain moisture during the warm summer months.
The El Pozo vineyard, founded in 2010, is also located in Quel, at an altitude of 650 m a.s.l. There are also poorly fertile soils, mainly consisting of sand and clay, with the presence of river stones. The highest quality grapes intended for the production of this wine are selected only from a few of the best parts of this vineyard.
Tasting
Queirón Reserva has a deep layer of color, with red cherry nuances and iridescent ruby highlights on the surface of the wine, which show its age and maturity.
Intense aromas and a complex bouquet, with spicy notes, coffee, ego, coconut, which are the result of long aging of wine in barrels with Allier and Tronçais.
Notes of black fruit, grass and litter. Aromas of cake and fruit compotes on a balsamic and mineral background, with maximum expression of terroir.
Elegant and integrated tannins on the palate complete the picture of this balanced, very long and very flesh-colored wine.
