One of the oldest wines produced in the world comes from the Rhone Valley. As early as in the 4th century BC The Greeks were growing grapes near Marseille. These vineyards were then taken over by the Romans in the first century BC. In the Middle Ages, the Church had a huge impact on the wine industry in this region. In the fourteenth century, during the period of the famous two-papacy, after moving from Rome to Avignon, the French popes intensively planted vines around the city with vines. The most characteristic varieties of red vines grown in the Rhone Valley
Well-built red wine, light and fruity in the nose, with the aromas of cherries, raspberries, earth and meadows, and a pleasant spicy flavor. On the palate, it has a lively acidity, with slightly acidic red notes of fruits and spices, and rustic quality that suits Mediterranean cuisine.
