Le Merle Blanc was originally produced around the mid-19th century and was then one of the most important products of Chateau Clarke. Unfortunately, the production of Le Merle Blanc has fallen since the vineyard was dominated by Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, with no place for white varieties. After acquiring Chateau Clarke in 1973, Baron Edmond wanted to restore Le Merle Blanc to its former glory and decided to pay homage to this forgotten wine. A small part of the vineyard covering just 2 ha was planted with Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon, Muscadelle and Sauvignon Gris, resuming the production of this wine. Due to the small areas of plantings, only 6,000 bottles are produced annually.
Le Merle Blanc is a wine with a beautiful pale yellow color, in which you can feel the aromas of citrus fruits, such as grapefruit and lemon, and wonderful notes of acacia flower. In the mouth it leaves a pleasant sweet impression, at the same time intense, refreshing acidity.
