One of the oldest wines produced in the world comes from the Rhone Valley. As early as in the 4th century BC The Greeks were growing grapes near Marseille. These vineyards were then taken over by the Romans in the first century BC. In the Middle Ages, the Church had a huge impact on the wine industry in this region. In the fourteenth century, during the period of the famous two-papacy, after moving from Rome to Avignon, the French popes intensively planted vines around the city with vines. The most characteristic varieties of red vines grown in the Rhone Valley are: Syrah (northern areas), Grenache (southern part) and Mourvedre.
Proper coupage of these strains gives a well balanced in the nose and mouth wine, going towards juicy forest fruits, roasted peppers and spices.
A good companion for meat entrees, stewed meats, wild birds and ripening cheeses.
The wine is produced by the family company Brotte, founded in 1931 in the town of Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Confirmation of Laurent Brotte's aspirations in the pursuit of further development of the company in harmony with nature, are obtained in 2014 certificates "Terra Vitis" for family properties located in different parts of the Rhone Valley.
