In 1997, the Tommasi family bought a property in Pitgliano (province of Grosseto), giving rise to the "Tuscany" project: POGGIO AL TUFO. Pitigliano Estate extends over 66 hectares of vineyards grown on volcanic soil. A few years later, the project was extended to the acquisition of Doganella Estate, 24 hectares entirely dedicated to the organic vine collection, and Scansano Estate, 80 hectares in the heart of the Morellino DOC zone.
Poggio al Tufo Vermentino is a white Tommasi family jewel. Poggio al Tufo is the first estate of the Tommasi family outside the Valpolicella Classica. A history of wonderful Tuscan terroirs in which a complex and ambitious wine project has been undertaken: the creation of excellent wines in the Maremma region of Tuscany. Vermentino has intense aromas of exotic fruits. Full and harmonious with a bold note of tropical aromas combined with pleasant perseverance.
